Personal Goals:
To be Healthy, to Empower and to Share in the Abundance of life!

Chiropractic Goals:
To be the best chiropractor I can be, to help as many people as I can for as long as I can

Background:
Born in Canada and grew up in California. Married with two beautiful daughters. I have lived in many countries mainly, Canada, USA, Scotland and England and now happily settled in Perth, Australia. As a young man I have been a sailor, carpenter, engineer and finally at 40 years old became a Chiropractor! All these roles in my life have allowed me to gain the skills I need to be the practitioner I am today.

Why am I a chiropractor?
After a bad football injury at the age of 13, I was introduced to my first chiropractor and he helped when no one else could! I decided then that’s what I wanted to be when I grew up! However many winding paths and various other important things kept me busy until I was 39 yrs old, when I finally realized that my dream to become a chiropractor had to start now!

Starting Chiropractic College in England at the age of forty was a great challenge for many areas of my life. These challenges helped me to become very clear of my goals, to be the best chiropractor I can be, to live a long and healthy life and to help as many people as I can. After graduation from Anglo European College of Chiropractic I was determined to complete my internship/training with some of the best chiropractors in England, Drs George Walker and Stephen Williams. After years with Dr Walker in Plymouth, Devon and with Dr Williams in Southampton, both great teachers, with all their great experience and knowledge, allows me a deeper understanding of the many complexities of the human body. My skills, of structural analysis, SOT, AK and Cranial allow me to look at each person holistically, each with their own unique history.

Becoming a chiropractor has rewarded me much life experience and allowed me do what I love what I do!

What do I love to do?
To help each individual person, from the youngest, at one day old to elders at ninety plus, by enabling them to function at their highest level.

How do I do that?
Unwind structural patterns and restore the natural balance of the body’s nervous system to help the person to regain their ease. Techniques include SOT, AK, Cranial, NSA, Myofascial, Pilates and others!

What makes a man start on a new career path at 39 years old? Stop a child from needing neurosurgery? and helps thousands of people everyday?.... why Chiropractic of course!

I was first treated by a chiropractor during my teens for a persistent football injury. I was impressed by the qualities of gentleness and strength of this chiropractor and felt this was the skill I would very much like to achieve. After that I often thought of opting for a career in chiropractic but that path eluded me for many years.

At the age of 39 I decided that it was now or never, so I resigned from my job as a mechanical engineer in a major oil supply company and became a student at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic (AECC). Four challenging years at the college and nineteen months of training with the eminent George Walker in Plymouth and I am now on that path. Helping people of all ages with particular interest in the treatment of infants and children.

My youngest daughter Holly was born 2 months prematurely, an unexpected Christmas present. Unfortunately two weeks later on Christmas Eve 1995, Holly caught meningitis and was at death's door for 5 days after which she slowly recovered. Soon another setback as she was diagnosed as having hydrocephalus (water on the brain), a complication of the meningitis. The neurosurgeons became involved, an MRI scan was done and surgery was scheduled to place a shunt in her brain to bleed the pressure. A chiropractic craniopath, Steve Williams, began treating Holly cranially and immediately the pressure within her head decreased. A final scan just prior to the planned operation showed that the hydrocephalus had spontaneously arrested and therefore Holly was no longer a candidate for surgery!

Holly is now almost two and a half years old, a normal, happy little girl. She gets an occasional checkup at the craniopath's and the senior consultant paediatrician in Plymouth is very happy with her progress.

I have seen the power of chiropractic for my love-ones and this and myself is why I am interested in treating the young. I can understand the feelings of helplessness that parents have when their child is unwell and not knowing where or whom to turn to.

Infant and children are also some of the best chiropractic patients as their innate drive for life is so strong. They are pushing forward with the one aim in life; to get bigger and better as soon as possible. They have not yet had time to suffer the many outside forces that slow an adult's recovery, ie. our jobs, cars, sports, hobbies, beds and habits and so often the child's response to treatment are amazing. The parents are so relieved seeing their children improve so quickly that they too begin to appreciate and understand the power of chiropractic and often, months later, one of the adult family members shows up at my clinic to see if it will also work for them. (And it does!)

Soon after I arrived in Plymouth I gave a presentation to the Cornwall Health visitors on chiropractic treatment of infantile colic. I also spoke to them about our training, philosophy and current research. This was a good method for getting the news into the community, for within weeks I was seeing 2-6 babies a week and have now successfully treated over a hundred. I treat babies and children for many different types of problems; non-thriving, food intolerances, asthma, birth traumas, behavioral problems, over/under- activity, walking difficulties and of course, infantile colic.

The next section of the community I hope to share the power of chiropractic with is the pregnant and post-natal mums. I will soon be giving a presentation to the Devon and Cornwall midwives and hope to get an equally good response. In the nineteen months since leaving AECC I have helped many people in all age groups and am currently training as a Craniopath.
