Peak Performance and Sports
You don’t need to be a professional athlete to benefit from improving your performance. To be able to compete at any level requires a stable foundation starting with your nervous system. Unfortunately, our awareness of how our body and nervous system are functioning and how much stress we are under is at best very poor. By the time we become aware of some change in our performance, the damage and changes have been around for some time.

Recently, I worked with an Ironman athlete whose story demonstrates this. Jeff presented to me after I had spoken to his sports physician about the importance of doing more in-depth dynamic neurological assessments to find any covert impairments in function. When I first met Jeff, he looked like an Ironman athlete, tall, wide shouldered and lean. He looked in peak physical condition. When we started our discussions, it became apparent to me and slowly more apparent to Jeff that he was not performing at his best. As we looked closer it became clear that there had been changes that had occurred but which he had just thought of as ‘normal’ that included not waking up refreshed after sleep, memory and concentration lapses and poor digestion. After our discussions, we performed a neurological and physical assessment.

What we found indicated that Jeff was indeed under performing and that his body was working very hard just to keep him going in his daily living.

Do you need to be an athlete like Jeff to benefit from chiropractic care? No, anyone with a nervous system can benefit from chiropractic care.
